Meet Dr. Gail Myers Ph.D

Dr. Gail Myers is a cultural anthropologist,, filmmaker, educator, and co-founder of Farms to Grow, Inc. Her work documents the Black agrarian life through field interviews, cultural research, and community based storytelling.

Why the Rhythms of the Land had to be made

The film is rooted in the firsthand accounts of elders many of whom were interviewed in the final chapters of their lives. Their stories hold generations of knowledge about contributions of Black farmers, farmers traditions, foodways, family, survival, and community, wisdom that is too often left unrecorded.

When these voices go unheard, our understanding of history becomes smaller.
